Everything you need to know about Team Toolbox

General Questions

Team Toolbox is a Discord bot that transforms your server into a productivity powerhouse. We bring together Google Workspace, Notion, AI-powered chat tools, and team management features directly into Discord - perfect for creative teams, game studios, and scrappy organizations that live in Discord.

Yes! Team Toolbox is completely free to use. We believe powerful productivity tools shouldn't break the bank, especially for creative teams and nonprofits. All features are available at no cost.

We're built specifically for teams that think different. Instead of generic features, we focus on deep integrations with the tools creative teams actually use (Google Workspace, Notion) plus unique features like Safe Spaces for anonymous feedback and AI-powered conversation summaries. We get that Discord teams aren't corporate - and neither are we.

We're perfect for indie game studios, content creator collectives, music & arts groups, scrappy startups, passion-driven nonprofits, and remote-first teams. Basically, any creative organization that uses Discord as their primary workspace and needs powerful tools without the corporate price tag or vibe.

Setup & Installation

Super easy! Just click the "Add to Discord" button on our homepage, select your server, and grant the necessary permissions. The whole process takes about 30 seconds, and you'll be up and running immediately.

We need standard bot permissions like reading messages, sending messages, and managing channels. For advanced features like Safe Spaces, we need thread creation permissions. We only request what we actually use - no sketchy permission grabbing here.

Nope! Most features work out of the box. For integrations like Google Calendar or Notion, you'll need to connect your accounts (which takes about 2 minutes), but basic features like reminders and chat summaries work immediately.

Integrations

Use the /google auth command to start the authentication process. You'll get a secure link to connect your Google account. Once connected, you can subscribe channels to calendars and get event notifications right in Discord.

Absolutely! Each user can connect their own Notion workspace, and you can sync different channels with different Notion pages. Perfect for teams with multiple projects or clients.

Yes! We use OAuth2 for all integrations, which means we never see your passwords. We only access the specific data you authorize (like calendar events you choose to share). Your sensitive information stays with you.

Features

Our AI reads through your chat history and creates intelligent summaries. You can summarize entire channels, catch up on messages since you last spoke, or get summaries of specific conversations. It's like having a super-smart teammate who actually pays attention to meetings.

Safe Spaces are anonymous, private threads where team members can share feedback, concerns, or ideas without fear of judgment. Perfect for fostering open communication and psychological safety in creative teams. Users can choose to reveal their identity if they want.

Set up custom keywords, and we'll DM you whenever they're mentioned in channels you have access to. Great for staying on top of project names, client mentions, or important topics without constantly monitoring every channel.

Troubleshooting

First, make sure Team Toolbox has permission to read messages in the channel. If permissions look good, try using slash commands (/) instead of text commands. If you're still having issues, hop into our support Discord!

Try re-authenticating with /google auth. If that doesn't work, make sure your Google account has the necessary permissions for the calendars or files you're trying to access. Some organizational accounts have restrictions that might block the integration.

Check that the channel is properly subscribed to your calendar with /calendar list_calendars. Also, make sure the calendar itself has events and that Team Toolbox has permission to send messages in the notification channel.

Privacy & Security

We only collect what we need to make features work: your Discord user ID, server settings you configure, and integration tokens (stored securely). We don't read your messages unless you specifically ask us to (like for summaries), and we don't store message content.

Nope! We can only see messages in channels where Team Toolbox is present and has permission to read messages. We can't access private DMs, private channels we're not in, or messages in servers where we're not installed.

Safe Spaces are designed with privacy-first architecture. While Discord's limitations mean we know who creates threads, our interface doesn't expose this to other users unless someone chooses to share their identity. We take anonymity seriously.
